To answer to bottom part of the original question:

You are correct, the awtmain processes are the AMP worker task processes. The "# of procs" column in schmon monitor output includes
different types of processes active on the node: For example, it includes AMP workers tasks, parsing engine tasks, and UNIX daemons, all
combined.
