The default format is a binary data format where first two bytes is record length, then the data record and a EOR marker. 0A or 0D.

If you are using a text file , use following syntax:

.IMPORT INFILE C:\fast\INPUTDAT.TXT FORMAT TEXT
LAYOUT UsingData;
