Paul, We also run with the default of 5, but because of the way our overnight jobs were scheduled, until lately, we rarely ran 5 loads at the same time. Recently, we made some schedule changes to run more jobs in parallel, and we were also considering increasing from 5. However, since the changes, we have experienced several unexplained deadlocks, always between different multiload jobs (with the jobs always loading to totally separate tables) - indicating that perhaps the problem is with a DBC table(s) 'behind the scenes' ... We are about to raise an incident with NCR on this. But it has made us wary of increasing the default from 5 - as the problems only began when we started running more, seemingly unrelated, multiload jobs in parallel. I'm interested to hear other people's comments on your question. Julie.
