Hi Paul,

A good number of years back we set this to 7 on a 5100, and that didn't really stretch the box. I'm guessing that you're probably safe at around 8-9, but the final proof of the pudding is when you start running the production work.

Assuming that you're running work now, make a note (using Resusage) of what's happening when you run the workload now, increase this parameter, run and record again (or run the next day's work) etc etc.

The other thing to say is that it will probably depend on the type of work you're running. I generally consider Multiload to be a heavier resource user than Fastload and Fastexport is very variable. I'd be happy running 10 Fastloads but I'd probably think twice before running 9 Multioads/Fastexports combined.

Cheers,

Dave
