Does anyone have any recommendations for upper spool limits? Based on previous experience I have set some limits at our site and they
have become de-facto standards. This is no bad thing as they have helped flush out a number of bad, skewing queries but have been generous
enough to get 99% of queries through, even the most complex BO queries against large tables. I would however, be grateful for any input
anyone may have on what type of strategy they have set at their sites so I can refine my standards and thinking. I can see some users
needing more than my de-facto standards and some less. Relative percentages of largest table to spool would do, especially from sites with
very large tables.
For info, we have several small tables then a handful of huge tables (up to 600 Gb - but let's not get into the who's got the largest
table argument.) We have a very mixed workload on the box.
To save everyone's time, I know all the well known stuff about spool, reserves etc and the implications of giving everyone to much, I'm
really just after some ideas on the strategies that are working successfully out there.
Cheers
Andy
