All,

If several users want to update the same table at the same time, what is the best strategy to minimize contention? The tables are metadata, users access the tables via 1-1 views with locking for access and do single row updates. If the same Teradata user is used by all users of the system, will this makes matters better or worse?

This is one of those situation where I think I know what the answer is but need some verification. Also, if anyone has any metadata tables they use in this way and have developed a good strategy, any ideas would be useful.
