Subj:   Re: Can it be any faster

From:   John Hall

It's only taking 9 minutes for Phase 2, so I wouldn't worry about things like hash collisions or sort order (FWIW: I haven't seen any case where the sort order had a real impact on the run time of a FDL - I have noticed variations, but they were so small that I couldn't identify them from typical job variations).

Just a bit of a math-check during Phase 1:

- The acquisition phase is taking 18 hours, 30 minutes.

- Total rows loaded: 4,294,967,295

- It looks like the job is transferring rows at a rate of 66,545 rows/sec.

- If the input record length is 42 bytes, then this works-out to 2,710,777 bytes/sec.

So how fast is your network connection? Even though the connection might be direct and without bridges, if you only have a 10Mb/s connection and given the overhead of the network connection, then this might not be too bad.
