We keep having intermittent problems transferring data to a SAS server from teradata using fastload mode in SAS. Occasionally it can take up to a day to transfer a small table of a few Mb. If we kill it and then run it again it will take a couple of seconds. I just tried something similar using bteq export on my PC with a 150Mb table. The first time I ran it it took a few minutes to transfer. The second time I tried is still running now, 30 minutes later. Someone here said that they think that there is a feature of fastload, bteq, etc. where data is transferred at whatever speed the transfer started at. Therefore if a few exports are started within a short space of time the last one will initially get very little bandwidth and the whole data transfer for this query will run at the same speed it started at, even after the other exports have completed and more bandwidth is available. Can anyone confirm this and if possible point me in the direction of some documentation on it? Thanks, Andy Doorey.
