I've never seen it done, I'm almost 100% certain that it wouldn't be supported and I think it won't work because all TPA nodes on the bynet will be assumed to be in the same dbms configuration. I guess to do this you'd have to break the bynet between your two instances (in which case you've probably just got two machines anyway !).

Not sure what's behind the question, but if you've got an existing system that you want to break into two then why not break it physically and create two real systems?
