I concur with Jose. One thing we have learned about doing transformations is to avoid UPDATE. Using Insert/Select (transformations as part of the select) into an empty destination table is many times faster. If you can keep the same primary index, its pretty awesome. The key seems to be avoiding the transitive journal whenever possible.
