From:   Conley, Mary M (Shelly)

When it first occurred it was speculated that is was either that we were copying journals from 3.00.03.110 to 04.01.03.10, or that we were not at correct MVS Arcmain version. We were using 6.7 but NCR said we should be using 6.9. So we got in 6.9 and still took 2509 restarts. We tested with copying from 04.01.03.10 to 04.01.03.10 and still took 2509 restarts. I had 3 machines that I was able to cause 2509 restarts on. The funny thing was that the journal copy completed after the restart finished and the MVS Arcmain job ended with 0 condition code.

NCR did not seem to be able to recreate the problem. But finally they came back with: "The cause of the problem that COPY PJ caused 2509 restarts was found. DBS/Sustaining team found a bug in the code and this problem will be fixed in our discrepancy report - DR 65695. This problem was introduced in the base release of DBS 4.1.3".

On Monday I received the E-fix in 04.01.03.30 and no restarts have occurred.
