You mention that it is taking 1hr 20 minutes with one secondary index to load versus 37 seconds with no secondary index.

What tools are you using to load the data (eg bteq insert/select, bteq import or multiload)?

We have noticed that multiload is an absolute dog if secondary indexes exist on the target table. If you are using multiload, could you try loading to a temporary table with no secondary indexes and then loading onwards using bteq??

Finally, it may be worth investigating Dave's point regarding dropping the secondary indexes as they may not be used in the first place.
