Subj:   Re: Syscheck documentation question.

From:   Dennis Calkins

Hi,

SysCheck monitors the system for Signs of Congestion which might lead to System Slowdowns or perceived Hangs.

I say perceived because a Really slow moving box could appear to be HUNG when in fact it is doing work. Maybe not as Fast as you would like it to but it is not HUNG.

SysCheck puts an Event into the system logs when Warning and Alert levels are reached but it will not automatically Reset the box when any of its thresholds have been reached like some home grown Monitoring jobs may do.

It is the responsibity of the operator or DBA to decide when to reset the box if the congestion persists.
