I had a similiar problem about a year ago. In my case, I was performing a 'Union All' on 2 tables within a view and the optimizer was
choosing to product join these tables together (even though they had the same PI.) I altered the view definition to include the
databasenames for these 2 tables, and the problem with the product joins disappeared. Maybe this will help.
