Francesca makes a very good point. IN V2R5.0, PSF will be changed so that AmpWorkerTasks can be associated with a performance group. This will allow you to ensure that this resource is available for the performance group you set up. The initial objective of this feature is to better ensure that AmpWorkerTasks will always be available to process queries with sort response times, i.e. to support active data warehousing. However, even with this new feature, the fact still remains that queries will utilize AmpWorkerTasks as needed and, all things being equal, reducing a query's priority will cause the associated AmpWorkerTasks to be dedicated to the query in question for a longer period of time. Unfortunately, the currently available documentation provides little insight into AmpWorkerTasks, how they are utilized, how to monitor, etc. My understanding from talking with NCR is that there will be much more documentation on this subject with the release of V2R5.0. FYI, there is some monitoring capability with the use of ResUsage data, if you are collecting data in the ResUsageSvpr table. Thomas F. Stanek
