There certainly are several if not many relatively current configurations out there still employing RAID-5. One such client (of whom I
will not divulge their name) was configured with a moderately sized 52XX server and about 5 TB at RAID-5 about 12-18 months ago. Yes, they
did have some regrets after discovering the impact of their decision. I don't believe that NCR made the client fully aware of the impact of
their decision otherwise they would have been likely to change their minds.
