Subj:   Re: Inputs/Best Practices for migration from V2R2/R3 to V2R4 and higher versions

From:   Dennis Calkins

Hi,

By migration do you mean

a complete ARCHIVE at v2r2
install v2r4.x
sysinit and reload of the data

This is by far the simplest method of conversion from a v2r2 to v2r4.x system.

The sysinit allows you to change the number of blocks per cylinder from the v2r2 constant 1488 to the post v2r3 of 3872. The Post v2r3 number of 3872 is required to limit the fragmentation issues for 64K and 128K datablock support within the file system.
