Subj:   Re: Packdisk maintenance job

From:   Dennis Calkins

Hi,

After you upgrade to 4.1 there is a new command in Ferret called SHOWFSP which will tell you the current FSP of every table larger than 2 cylinders (configuable) per amp ).

This command takes about 10 minutes to run and is very non intrusive to the rest of the system. Using this command you can play with different FSP values and see which values would work best.

Using this command you can identify which tables contain the most recoverable number of cylinders when they are packed to certain percentages.

Then you can SCOPE to those specific tables and run packdisk on just the tables which will result in the most recovered cylinders.

Since you are packing only specific tables and not the whole system, packdisk will run faster.
