Subj:   Re: Volatile Tables in Business Objects

From:   John K. Wight

Dave's right. BO has done an exceptionally POOR job of supporting Teradata unlike MSI and Cognos that do support derived, volatile and global temp tables as well as a lot of the OLAP functions. BO is a great reporting tool, but somewhat limited in supporting a lot of the newer (i.e. V2R2 and later) functionality. If you are a BO user/shop with Teradata, I would go to them and find out what their strategy is for supporting more TD functionality.

BO does not support multi-pass SQL in a singe report, but you can define a 'document' that is made up of one or more 'reports' each having a single SQL statement that is executed serially and the results can be referenced within the 'document' - thus giving the appearance of multi-pass SQL, but it is not really.
