I believe that is correct, Business Objects cannot use one at all and the other only with manual intervention. Temporary tables cannot
be used unless they are specifically referred to in the universe. Volatile tables cannot be seen at all as the universe has no concept of
them.
It was the one 'annoyance' we had when we went down the Business Objects route - about three months later MicroStrategy confirmed they
would make use of volatile tables but it was a bit late for us by then.
