On the converse side of the coin.... staying on a release of code too long for fear of upcoming bugs and outages can lead to the
discovery of bugs and outages not yet previously found on the current release of your software. This can lead to serious pain when it you
are forced to upgrade to cure the current problem on your current release. I can remember living on a release of Teradata code for 3 years
(before they had a software roadmap) because it worked, there we no new features or creatures that we needed or wanted in newer releases so
we sat on the same release........ What a pain it was to upgrade when we finally had to !!! Over the years Teradata code has tightened up
alot....... with good and rigorous testing of new releases on test boxes we have had very few problems or outages in our upgrade path.
