Subj:   Re: Unix vs. Windows

Charles,

The size of DW and individual tables and queries are factors which will help you decide whether to select the reliability and scaleability offered by Unix. Windows is undoubtedly improving but seems to need more time to evolve into a credible competitor for the multi-terabyte DW market.

Consider not only the probability of failure but how the system manages and restarts queries that have been interrupted - using Unix it can appear seamless to the users with TData restarting queries where they were interrupted - I have not had the opportunity to see this with Windows - can anyone else advise?
