Right, especially with name and address fields. There are specific solutions (often called "householding", but what used to be mailing
or address cleanup applications) that may have needed to have been applied (e.g. Trillium). It's not the operational systems' "fault" if
the data isn't usable. However, I've used address parsing and checking software since 1988, and while it's certainly not as sophisticated
as today's householding packages, hey, it did parse addresses into their component pieces very easily. A requirement, I might add, for any
operational system that has to deal with the US Postal Service by mailing things out. Check your requirements documents again!
