Dear All

We are cellular telecom industry and building Data Warehouse using Teradata. We are offered a turn-key solutions by a local vendor we and accepted it. All the exercises to find suitable questions to answer by DWH has been done by that vendor. The solution is being implemented by that vendor. Now we are facing some problem regarding data cleaning. There are some OLTP databases running in our company from where the data has to extracted and pushed into DWH. The results are not upto the requirements, as data is not being entered as it should be. For example Addresses are not enerted in break-ups like City, Area, Country etc. We being client are novice to DWH in beginning, but vendor was supposed to be expert. We got response from vendor that "Since data is not cleaned/present/not entered so result can not be produced" And they insisted that you (client) had to do this in beginning. How can we? Is it our responsibility?

Now we are taking steps to rectify all this but why it happened and who should be named responsible? I need you people to comment on this, just to avoid this in future when I became DWH Consultant.

Can you people comment of this. Please help.
