Every 8th Vproc being little used does not sound like data skew. Are these idle Vprocs AMP Vprocs or PE Vprocs? It is common for PE Vprocs to be more idle thant AMP Vprocs.

What are you looking at when you determine that these Vprocs are have very little usage?

If they are all AMP Vprocs, then are they running in the same physical node? Maybe one of your nodes is slow? Are all nodes on-line? Are the disk arrays connected to all nodes on-line?
