Hello Forum,

Had a very strange issue today which I have never come across before.

What happened : ?I have different backup jobs /scripts for different databases which runs at different time windows. During one such scheduled job, the ARCUSER got blocked ?by a customer user (say user ABC) , since they were running some jobs against the DB (say database ZZZ) and ARCUSER could not obtain the lock on that DB ZZZ. The blocking continued for several hours (Till I aborted the backup job and released the locks) .

Now the real issue - Another user (say user EFG) could not run a script , which was accessing a totally different DB (say database YYY) and that database was locked by the same ARCUSER session that was being blocked by the user ABC . So the EFG?s ?script was just getting blocked. When I ran the ?release lock? statement from arcmain, it released the locks from the database YYY also, which was never being backed up in the first place.

Since YYY database was not part of the backup job at all. I am not able to understand why that database was blocked ARCUSER.
