Hi, I have no doubt it will work, but in our case the particular throttle should work only during a certain moment each day, which is the timeframe of the backup run. Now, I didn't find any time-related fields in the classification part of the throttle which allows you to say for instance, the throttle is valid from 19:00 until 23:00. I succeeded on my test system in locking an environment for specified users and utilities by creating a dedicated ruleset, containing filters & throttles like you suggested. However, it was a semi-automatic operation, cause I needed to activate the ruleset via the workload designer portlet in viewpoint. Than take a backup, and lastly deactivate it again so I could reactivate the standard ruleset once more. For my test system, I can live with that fact, but for production that solution is not optimal. Unless, you know of a way we can activate/deactivate rulesets via cmdline instructions and not using viewpoint? If so, I could create some scripts that I can schedule as a job before and after the backup jobs. Best regards, Vandormael Raf
