Subj:   Adding a Name to Primary Index without recreating it

Dear All,

We have created our application of around 250 odd tables and stats defined for all of these. We have now discovered that as a part of the data modeling guideline, we have to give names to all the indexes being used , including the primary index.

Is there a way to simply alter the table and add a name to an index (including Primary Index). I would neither be changing the PI or its data type.

The reason I'm looking out for an easy way out is that in addition to redefining the table, we have to redefine all the stats and we have not maintained the stats definition script. Create table With stats is also ruled out since my purpose of giving the index a name will not be served.

I'm now planning to write a procedure to pick up all the stats defined (or Copy Stats) for each table.

Requesting your kind opinion here. Is there an easy way out of my quandary?
