Hi Anonymous -- Teradata reserves space in each block for housekeeping needs. In this case it appears that it uses about 80 bytes. In larger blocks, my understanding is that more space is reserved, but it has been years since I read the details. Check the manuals for exact numbers.

I suggest that U test with a larger blocksize. Try 128k or perhaps 64k. I suspect that U will find more useful results that way.
