Subj:   How to "dump" a table?

From:   DUELL, BOB

Hi,

Is there a tool, utility, or procedure I can use to "dump" or "unload" a Teradata table to my UNIX server?

Basically, I'm looking for a process that can be followed to copy tables out of my database into another form that can be easily "reloaded" when needed.

Using SAS (my programming language), I've written a script that will create a text file containing the table DDL, FASTEXPORT the table to a SAS data set, and then drop the table. I have another script that will use the previously created DDL file to recreate the Teradata table and then FASTLOAD it back to the database.

My process generally works okay, but I'm wondering if there is an alternate solution.

Thanks!
