Note that when an error occurs, Teradata mode rolls back changes since BT which then ends the transaction - before returning the error code to the client. It is the client's responsibility to skip over any remaining SQL up to and including the corresponding ET;

In particular, if you are using BTEQ this means you need to check status after every SQL statement or use MAXERROR.
