The system default I believe is Teradata mode.

SELECT TRANSACTION_MODE FROM DBC.SESSIONINFOV also gives me 'T' , which I believe is Teradata. Then could anyone let me know, why I ran into the error 2971: The AMP Lock table has overflowed. The user was trying to run an insert-select (1million rows) into a table which caused the error.
