Hi experts

I need to understand what does TOP actually mean?

     SELECT TOP 5 from TABLE1;

The above will fetch me 5 rows. However I don't understand what did Teradata use to determine the top 5 rows as I have not put any 'ORDER BY' clause.

Then with which column(s) did it do the sort?

Should it fetch me the same rows always?
