I've toyed with the idea of writing a Perl program that would basically do the same thing as BTEQ but would also include the ability to define
and use variables, including activity_count and errorcode. My module Teradata::SQL provides the basic interface needed. Unfortunately, this would
be a very big project, and life is short ... but if anyone wants to try it, I'm sure there would be some interest.
On z/OS, one could perhaps do something with custom CLI code ... if one had several months.
