Hi,

To avoid a full table scan you need one or more of:

- selection via an index (PI, SI, JI, Hash Index...)

- rowhash merge or rowkey merge join (I think this second one is the correct phrase - this is when using PPI to join)

- partition elimination (i.e. using the PPI column(s) as part of the selection or join condition)
