You need to catch up on recent releases of Viewpoint. Sounds like you got trained on a very early version but have not seen the updates. Start
on Teradata Developer Exchange where there is extensive material on Viewpoint and the content of releases.
Query Monitor can do filtering quite nicely.
The blocking information is in Query Monitor by drilling into a blocked session. We extended this functionality in Viewpoint 13.11 to not only
display the blocking session but provide the ability to navigate back through the blocking tree. So changed the session id to be a link to drill
back through on. Screen shots and explanation are in the Viewpoint 13.11 release article under the "Query Monitor" section:

This is more functionality for locking/blocking than was ever available in any aspect of Teradata Manager/PMON.
