As you probably recall, Dave, when stored procedures were first introduced they had very few features. There wasn't even a separate statement
to open a cursor. They also included a PRINT statement (for debugging?) that printed to a Database Window and was thus useless for the ordinary
developer. Maybe Teradata wanted to see if anyone would actually use SP's before they started adding a bunch of features, and debugging was low on
the priority list. Just a guess!
