Generally using the name allows Teradata Viewpoint to connect to multiple gateways. Teradata do not recommend IP addresses unless they are in the 'hosts' file.

Before testing the server name or IP, try to get the correct mail sever name and its associated IP address. Sometimes if the concern information is missing from the host file, in that case we need to add that information to the /etc/hosts file.

EX:

     # cat /etc/hosts
     xyz.xyz.xyz.xyz mailserverhost
