Hi All From what i know NULL is nothing.ie absence of a value. If the value itself is absent then what does COMPRESS NULL actually do? how does it compress 'nothing'?? If a column is having null how much physical space it actually takes? For ex: if a column is CHAR(20) and a row inserted has this value as null then how many bytes will be actually occupied. Please help. Thanks Sukul
