Interesting. Where have you seen this description of what the stats hold ?

The optimiser certainly uses all/most of the information that you list below, but it doesn't get that info from statistics.

Statistics contain (for instance):

Number of rows in the table

Number of unique values for the column(s) in question Max value Number of rows with NULLs

i.e. it describes the DATA - not the environment.
