<-- Anonymously Posted: Wednesday, January 12, 2011 16:55 --> We are trying to drop 2 columns from a table. The drop takes a few minutes (10-15). During that time, we have some web service calls executing macros (against different databases/tables) that are getting blocked. Has anyone ran into this before and is there a way to get around it? The columns are just amount columns and are not part of any primary or secondary index, partition, or join index. As a workaround, we can create a new table (minus the dropped columns), insert select the data from one to the other, collect stats, and then rename tables but that s a process we would like to avoid for this task that appears straight forward I have been looking through the Teradata docs but don t see a specific reason for this Thoughts?
