Hi ,

How much CPU and execution time has taken for the product join step ?

If the data size is more then optimizer will go for merge join by redistributing/duplication of the small table. So you don't want to worry on that.

You have to just collect the stats on the joining columns of both the tables and see the explain plan.

Check how much distinct values are there on the joining columns. Depending on that join method is decided by the optimizer.
