Were the deadlock jobs waiting to update, or were they trying to do DDL type operations also?

If so, do you happen to be running all this ETL under the same userid?

I ask, because it's possible you may have just hit the threshold my current client did, with too much activity within the one id blocking other jobs.

Solution to that is to split the work across multiple ids, using a pool of id's when submitting jobs
