The 'Freeze' is when it calculates the optimum width of each column. If there are a large number of rows then this can take a long time. (The spreadsheet used in 13.0 is far more complex/functional and that makes the width calculation much slower) Generally a thousand or 2 rows will not take too long, but 50 thousand could take 30 sec on a slower system. Improvements have been made in some of the efixes, so I would suggest upgrading to the latest version (13.0.0.12) and checking that out. You will also find that 13.10 (latest efix is 13.10.0.2) is considerably faster at data retreival - especially if you use Teradata.Net instead of ODBC. For example, SQLA 7.2 (or 12.0) takes 74 seconds to return 40,000 rows from dbc.columns on my system. SQLA 13.10.0.2 takes only 7 seconds if I connect using Teradata.Net. Mike Dempsey
