Hi Syed, this is a very strange usage of ROWNUM in Oracle, i didn't know this returns a correct result without aliasing it in the derived table: MIN (ROWNUM) AS min_rownum Is there a huge difference between both queries or just a few rows? Could you test it with just a small subset of data? Dieter
