Note that best practice (not specific to Teradata) is not to rely on "internal image" backups like ARC for long term retention. The data needs to be stored in some documented standard external format so you can interpret it even if there is no longer a compatible "restore" option.

Also there is the issue of whether you will be able to physically access old tape media. Will you have a way to mount & read a years-old tape? Or will you periodically migrate files to newer media formats? How will you catalog & track the location of the archived data over time?

How critical is this data? Do you need multiple copies, stored at multiple locations?
