<-- Anonymously Posted: Tuesday, May 25, 2010 11:13 --> Hi, We have aggregate tables with the history data of 10 years. To save the space, it has been decided to reduce the retention to 5 years. However, when the requirement for accesing the old data comes , we would have to restore the data that has been archived (immediately). For this we have plannned the strategy as folows: Moving the history data (i.e from main table to temp table) which would make it 'unusable' by the main table but usable as a (set of tables) in its own. This would be where the older data would be restored back to from tape. We need to build a process which copies data from the temp tables to a tape. After the successful backup we need to build a process to restore data to the new tables from tape. Can somebody please help & suggest like what should be the design followed for this. Thanks
