I've personally done what you're intending to do for one Teradata system. Having worked with and continuing to work with both vendors, I'm not
going to get into any discussion as to which vendor may have the better technology. Most unbiased technology consumers know the answer to that
sort of question is always, "it depends".
Unlike some technology vendors, Netezza currently does not have a lot of detailed product information (such as product documentation/manuals)
posted in the publically accessible area of its web site. As has been posed by other's you should be able to get documentation out of the Netezza
vendor without question and a trip to their website should provide you with links to any forum(s)/blog(s) you might join.
As far as administration goes, I would have to say that if you are comfortable administering TD infrastructure, you would not be challenged to
come up to speed on dealing with a NZ system.
With the environment you seem to have, one area you are likely to have issue with is in loading data. Unlike fastload/multiload, the nzload
utility really has little data handling transformation capabilities. As a result you really need to build nicely formatted flat text files to
feed it. This means you really need to handle any data issues in the transformation phase of your ETL/ELT process... In the case of ELT, that
may become TELT...
