There are several more effective ways to get data out of Teradata, such as BTEQ, FastExport or OLELoad, however ... the best place to 'do some analysis' on a million row dataset is _in_ Teradata. Teradata SQL can accommodate many complicated analytics, why not simply write a group of more complex queries?
