Subj:   Alert Policies not working after TD12 Conversion

From:   Barner Eric

To the Forum,

After upgrading to Teradata 12 TTU and TD12 RDBMS all of our prior alert policies are not working correctly anymore.

The version of the TD Manager Client is 12.00.00.04 .

The TD12 upgrade scripts for in the Teradata Manager had considerable issues initially (bad coding on Teradatas part) , however we worked around the issues and the DBCMANAGER userid has all the appropriate rights on the Alert Policy tables and macros as defined in the scripts.

That being said, I am able to update the alert policy information via the alert policy editor.. i.e. for a database DBCPMCP if the total space utilization is > 20% then write to log , or send email etc...

This is not working though, and when view the Alert viewer under the Database Space category all of the Limit Percents read 0%, whereas the tables in the dbcmngr database shows the correct values. I am not sure I understand the correlation and have read through a ton of documentation trying to figure out why this may be, but have not been able to uncover the answer.

I have deleted rules, recreated them , changed them all resulting in failure.

Has anyone else out there experienced similar problems in upgrading to TTU12/ Teradata 12 RDBMS with the Alert Policies. I would like to know if I am just overlooking something simple, maybe some of client tools guys (Mike Dempsey are you out there???) on the forum have some ideas on what the issue may be, before I open any incident with the Vendor.

Also I am getting an error in my Software Message Screen for TDWM when it is trying to send email alerts which is not working as well (for obvious reasons).

3159: TWM internal error disTwmInsAlert: Parcel error 3523 The user does not have insert Access to dbcmngr.AlertRequest

This is probably permissions issue for the TDWM user... but I thought it may be relevant to note.

Thanks in advance for the help!
